[intro]In this guide, you'll learn how to set up a Mix N' Match discount on your EKM online shop, using the Discount Management feature. [/intro]

[remember] Before you begin, add all the products you wish to include in this offer into one Category. You can easily move products by using the Import/Export System feature and following the steps in this guide. [/remember]

In a X Products for X Amount offer, customers add a specific number of products to their cart to pay a particular price. Before setting up your offer, you must determine how much the customer will save. This is easy if all of the products within the Category are the same price, as you simply add up the total of X items and subtract the X amount to determine how much your customers will save. You need to add the remaining amount to the Discount Management feature.

It’s a good idea to ensure all of the products within this Category have a similar price. If your items vary in price, it would be wiser to set your discount to a percentage instead, so instead of 'X products for X amount', you have 'Buy X products for X% off'. This is because the Discount Management feature can calculate a specific monetary amount (which may not be displayed correctly if the selected products differ in price), or it can calculate a percentage off the selected items in the discount (which is more accurate in the case of items having differing prices).

[remember]If you do decide to set up a X Products for X Amount discount using percentages instead of a monetary amount, you need to apply the percentage off to each of the products in the discount. For example, if I wanted to set up '25% Off when you buy 4', it would look like this:

In this example, customers must purchase four different items from a Category (where the prices vary), and each of the four products is discounted by 25%:

Remember, if you set up your X Products for X Amount discount using percentages instead of a monetary amount, be careful how you title the discount, as this is visible on the Cart page. Include the percentage and not the monetary amount saved to make the offer easier to understand for your customers. [/remember]

Suppose there are any products you want to include that are much cheaper or more expensive than the rest. In that case, you may amend their prices or remove them from your Category and list them as Related Products on the other products in your Sales Category or add them to the Cart Upsell feature instead.

[tips]It's a good idea to install the Quick View feature on your EKM online shop at this point. This will allow your customers to quickly add items to the cart from the Category Pages without having to click on each Product Page individually to make their selections. This works especially well on a discount Category where the discount relies on users selecting a number of items to receive their discount. [/tips]

1. Within the Discount Management feature, click Add Discount, and then complete the fields within the Basic Details element as normal:

2. In this example, my discount will allow customers to buy 3 packets of seeds for £15, saving £5.97. Within the Reward element, you need to set the Reward for Fixed Amount Off in the drop-down, and in the Fixed Amount Off field, add in the remainder amount:

[tips]If you are setting up this offer to use a Percentage Off instead, amend the Reward drop-down menu to Percentage (%) Off, and in the field before that, add in the percentage that your customers will save with this offer. [/tips]

3. In the Applies To element, for Applies To you need to select Specific Products from the drop-down, and for Maximum Number Of Products, add 1 to the field:

4. It is not recommended that you tick the box to Limit Individual Products for this particular offer, as this could negatively affect the items your customers choose. With that in mind, click Choose Products:

[remember]For customers to receive free products, they must place them within their cart - the EKM online shop platform will not automatically populate their cart with the free items. [/remember]

5. In the Choose Free Products modal, click the button on the right-hand side of the search bar to select Category, and then add the name of your Category to display all of the products within it. Click the topmost tick box on the left-hand side to tick the box for each product within your Category, before clicking the green Add To Discount button in the bottom right-hand corner:

6. In the Requirements element, for Requirement, you need to select Specific Products In Cart. For Product Combination, select Any Combination of Products from the drop-down. Add 3 in the Number of Products In Cart field, and then click the Choose Products button:

7. In the Choose Free Products modal, click the button on the right-hand side of the search bar to select Category, and then, add your Category name to display all of the products within it. Click the topmost tick box on the left-hand side to tick the box for each product within your Category, before clicking the green Add To Discount button in the bottom right-hand corner:

8. Scroll further down to see the Restrictions element:

Location Restrictions

9. If you tick this box, you can prevent specific countries from being able to take advantage of this discount. Click the Choose Locations button on the right-hand side:

10. In the window that appears, you can tick the box next to each country which CANNOT receive this discount. If you wish to select lots of countries, click the topmost box, automatically tick all of the boxes, and then un-tick the boxes for any countries you want to receive this discount. When you have finished configuring your countries, click the green Add To Discount button on the right-hand side:

Delivery Restrictions

11. If you want to exclude customers using specific Delivery Methods from this discount, tick the box and then click the Choose Delivery Methods button on the right-hand side:

12. This will then open a window to select which Delivery Methods are EXCLUDED from the discount by ticking the relevant boxes on the left-hand side. When you have selected your Delivery Methods, simply click the green Add To Discount button on the right-hand side:

Exclude Trade Customers

13. If you have installed the Trade Discounts feature on your EKM online shop, you can exclude your Trade customers from this offer by ticking the box:

14. Finally, you need to click the green Save button on the bottom right-hand side of the page to save your discount:

[remember]If you already have some offers set up in the Discount Management feature, you must be aware of Discount Priority to ensure that the correct discounts trigger in the correct order. You can read more about Discount Priority in this guide. [/remember]
