Before you begin, it’s a good idea to add at least one Product and install the Product Attributes and the Customer Reviews features to your EKM online shop. 

[caution]If your Product Pages are in Custom Mode, Product Tabs may not display. Please contact our Customer Support Team if this is the case and they will be able to advise further. [/caution]

Installing the Feature

1. From the Dashboard, click Features on the left-hand menu:

2. Click the Feature Library tab:

3. Scroll down to the Product Management features and click the View More button on the right-hand side:

4. Click the Product Tabs icon:

5. Click the green Install Feature button:

6. You’ll then see this notification which means that the Feature has been installed on your EKM online shop:

Where to edit the Product Tabs

1. You can access the Product Tabs for each Product within the Add/Edit Product window which you can access via the Products tab or via the Inventory Manager. Within the Add/Edit Product window, click More Options:

2. Then click Tabs on the left-hand side:

3. You’ll then see where you can add, edit and amend the Product tabs for that specific Product. If you’ve not yet installed the Customer Reviews feature, you can do this by clicking the Install Feature button (remember you will need to return to the Add/Edit Product window again if you wish to do this):

When amending the Tabs on a Product, there are a few things you need to remember:

  • Any Product Tabs you create will be specific to that particular Product and its Variants within that particular Add/Edit Product window;
  • Installing the Customer Reviews feature will give customers the ability to leave reviews on all of the Products within your EKM online shop;
  • Before you create any custom Tabs, it’s a good idea to decide whether you want to add the same Tabs to other Products on your EKM online shop for continuity;
  • If you sell items where customers typically look for specific Product Codes, SKUs or similar, it's a good idea to install the Product Attributes feature to make these details visible within the Product Tabs;
  • Product Tabs - especially if you have added some Custom versions too - will display on your EKM online shop Theme in Accordion style
  • If you have a lot of Products you would like to add Product Tabs to, you can do this by using spreadsheets and the Import/Export System feature.

Changing the order of Product Tabs

To change the order that the Product Tabs appear, you simply need to drag and drop them using the burger symbol on the left-hand side of each:

Description

1. Click the Edit button for Description:

2. In the window provided, you can amend the name of the Description Tab by changing the text in the field and clicking the green Save button on the right-hand side:

Reviews

1. Click the Edit button for Reviews:

Adding Custom Tabs

1. Click the green Add Tab button on the right-hand side:

2. In the window that appears, you need to give the Tab a Name and can then add information in the Content field, before clicking the green Add Tab button on the bottom right-hand corner:

[remember]You can add a maximum of 4 Custom Tabs to a single Product.  [/remember]

3. When you have added your Custom Tab, you’ll then see a switch you can click to make it visible, an Edit button on the far right-hand to make any future changes, and a Delete button to remove this Custom Tab entirely. When you have finished editing your Product Tabs, click the Save & Close button in the bottom right-hand corner:

[tips]You can also use Product Tabs with the Import/Export System feature and spreadsheets. It's a good idea to add Product Tabs to at least one Product beforehand manually using the steps above so you can then use this Product as a template on your spreadsheet.[/tips]

Frequently Asked Questions

I have added the Product Tabs feature, but I can’t see the Tabs on the Product Page - why?

When the Product Tabs feature is enabled, all products get activated to use Tabs - this means that the Product Description, Attributes and Customer Reviews on the Product Page will only appear in the Tabs. The relevant Tab will only show if there's information to be displayed though, so if you haven’t installed Customer Reviews or added some Attributes, or populated a Custom Tab, these will not display. Also, if your EKM online shop has Product Pages in Custom Mode, Product Tabs will not display. If this is the case, contact the Customer Support Team who will be able to advise further. 

I have added the Product Tabs feature, but I can’t see the Reviews tab - why?

The Reviews tab will only show when the Customer Reviews feature has been installed on your EKM online shop.

How many Custom Product Tabs can I create?

We would advise that you create no more than 4 Custom Tabs per Product Page, to ensure readability and useability. Creating more tabs can increase the depth of your Product Page, which isn’t best practice.

If I create a Custom Product Tab, will this be visible on all Products?

The Product Tabs feature can create a new Product Tab on a per-product basis - this can be done in the Add/Edit Product window. You can also use the Import/Export System feature and spreadsheets to add, edit and populate your Product Tabs in bulk. 

What if my Theme already has tabs?

If the Theme you’re already using on your EKM online shops has Tabs on the Product Page, these will still be visible, but if you add extra Tabs by installing the Product Tabs feature, they will convert into an Accordion automatically. 

What if my Theme doesn’t have Tabs on the Product Pages already?

The Theme you’re using has Accordions already, your Product Tabs will be added to the existing Accordion.

Why are Product Tabs showing as an Accordion on my Product Page?

If you previously had Product Tabs but these are now displaying as an Accordion, this could be to do with the number of Custom Tabs you have added to your Product. Also, the Product Tabs will display on all Themes in Accordions when the EKM online shop is viewed on a mobile device.
