Google Search Console

Opening a Google Search Console Account

1. Click this link and click the blue Start Now button on the left-hand side:

2. You then need to add your domain name in the field beneath URL Prefix and click the Continue button:

3. You now need to verify your shop with Google. If you have already opened a Google Analytics account, click this within the list provided:

4. However, if you do not have a Google Analytics account, select HTML tag instead:

5. Copy the code provided:

6. In a separate browser tab, log into your EKM online shop and open the Google Tools feature, before pasting the code into the top field and then clicking the Save button at the bottom of the page:

7. Return to the browser tab displaying the Google Search Console and click the Verify button:

8. You'll then see this window - click Go To Property:

9. This will redirect you to the Google Search Console Dashboard:


Submitting your Sitemap

There will be no data available on the dashboard just yet as you’ve only just opened the account, so the next step would be to submit a sitemap to Google. A sitemap is a list of all of the different pages on your site - you can read more about sitemaps here.

1. Click Sitemaps on the left-hand side:

2. Add 'sitemap.xml' into the field provided and click the Submit button:

3. You'll then see this window. Click 'Got It':

4. You'll then see your sitemap listed on the Dashboard:

5. Now you have configured your Google Search Console account, you'll need to wait a couple of days before you see any data within in it.

Opening a Google Merchant Center Account

A Google Merchant Centre account allows you to submit your Products to Google Shopping by using the Product Feed in the Google Tools feature of your EKM online shop. 

1. Click this link and then on the page that loads, click the green Signup button:


2. Complete your details on this page by submitting your website name and URL in the fields provided, before clicking Continue:

7. You'll need to agree to Google's Terms & Conditions before clicking the blue Continue button:

8. Click the blue Claim your Website button, and then click the blue Finish button:

Submitting your Product Feed

[warning] Before you submit your Product Feed to Google, you need to ensure that your EKM online shop has been classified using this Guide and that your Products have the relevant Attributes added to them. If you've not added these Attributes, you'll need to follow this Guide. Google will not accept your Products without these Attributes. [/warning]

This Guide provides a list of the Product details that your EKM online shop will automatically include in your Product feed, whilst this Guide provides an in depth list of all of the possible Custom Attributes you can include on your Products to make them more visible in Google Shopping search results.

9. You’ll now see the Google Merchant Centre Dashboard. Click Products:

10. Click Feeds:

11. Click the blue plus symbol:

12. Ensure your details are correct and click the blue Continue button:

13. Give your feed a name in the field provided, tick the box for Scheduled Fetch and then click the blue Continue button:

14. Log into your EKM online shop in a separate browser tab and open the Google Tools feature:

15. Scroll to the bottom of the page within the Google Tools feature and click the Copy button to copy the URL of your Product Feed:

16. Return to the browser tab where you are looking at Google Merchant Centre, and paste the Product Feed URL in the File URL field, then add a File Name and ensure your time zone is set correctly before pressing the blue Continue button:

17. You Product Feed will now be visible on your Google Merchant Center dashboard:
