Opening a Google Analytics account

Before you begin, you need to add a domain name to your EKM online shop and install the Google Tools feature.

1. To begin, click here and then click the blue button in the middle of the page:

2. Give your account a name - typically this would be the name of your EKM online shop - in the field provided, before scrolling down a clicking the blue Next button on the left-hand side:

3. Now you need to add the name of your EKM online shop into the Property Name field, and select the relevant Time Zone and Currency from the drop-down menus provided before clicking the blue Next button on the bottom left-hand side:

4. Tick the relevant boxes here, before clicking the blue Create button in the bottom left-hand corner:

5. You’ll then see a Terms of Service window appear. Select the relevant country from the drop-down menu, tick the box and click the I Accept button:

6. Click the Web button:

7. Add the URL of your EKM online shop in the field provided, and add the name of your EKM online shop in the Stream Name field, before clicking the blue Create Stream button on the left-hand side:

8. Now you need to click the copy symbol to copy your Google Measurement ID and click the X in the top left-hand corner:

9. On your Google Analytics dashboard, click the name of your EKM online shop in the top left-hand corner:

10. Click the square Google Tag Manager icon:

11. Now you need to click Get Started:

12. This will open a new tab on your browser. Click Create Account in the top right-hand corner:

13. Now you need to complete the fields provided, before clicking the Create button in the bottom left-hand corner:

14. A menu of terms will appear. Tick the box at the bottom, and then the blue Yes button in the top right-hand corner:

15. You’ll now see a window appear holding two pieces of code. Copy these onto a Notepad (.txt) file, or if you’re using a Mac, use TextEditor:

16. On a separate browser tab, log into your EKM online shop. From the Dashboard, click Design on the left-hand menu:

17. Now you need to click Theme:

18. Click the More Actions button on the bottom left-hand side, and then click Inject Custom Code from the drop-down menu:

[remember]If you don't see a More Actions button on the left-hand side, click the Edit button that will be in that area instead, select Advanced Options and then Inject Custom Code. [/remember]

19. Scroll down to the After <body> Code field and paste in the smaller piece of code from your Google Tag account, before clicking the green Save button in the bottom right-hand corner:

[remember]If you can't see the After <body> Code field, tick the box to Enable Alternative Code Injection for these fields to appear. [/remember]

20. Now you need to open the Google Tools feature on your EKM online shop. Within the feature, paste the larger piece of code from your Google Tag account in the Google Analytics Tracking Code field, below any existing code, before clicking the green Save button in the bottom right-hand corner:
