What is UI?

UI stands for User Interface - in plain English, this means how different elements are positioned on the page of a website. This can include elements such as buttons, pages, menus, images, options, links, icons and lots more. A good user interface makes the website very easy to use.

What is UX?

UX is shorthand for User eXperience, and this concerns how people actually interact with different elements on a website. A good example of this is the position of a menu; on most different kinds of websites, you’ll expect to find the menu at the top of the page, near the header. If you were looking at a page where the menu wasn’t immediately visible and obvious to you, causing you to search for it, this would be a bad user experience.

What do the UX/UI Team do?

By gathering and measuring data from a variety of sources, the UX/UI Team at EKM use this information to ensure that any upgrades or new features on the EKM online shop platform are as effective and easy to use as possible for both yourself and your customers.

On occasion, you may see a pop-up when you’re within the back end of your EKM online shop - this has been placed there by the UX/UI Team, and they are asking if you would like to give them some feedback on a specific part of the platform. If you don’t wish to give feedback, simply click ‘No’ and you won’t see the window again.

They also regularly attend external courses and seminars to stay up to date with the latest trends across a variety of different platforms, and how what those platforms do influence how we all interact with content on the internet.

What is a Feedback Group?

The UX/UI Team rely on feedback from people to help them design upgrades and new features for the EKM online shop platform. This includes any sticking points you may have discovered when using a specific feature or element or any areas where you would like to see more information displayed, for example. The data generated from a Feedback Group is essential as it includes lots of different shop owners representing lots of different kinds of shops, all with different levels of experience in using the EKM online shop platform.

How can I join a Feedback Group?

Wait until you see the pop-up appear in the back end of your EKM online shop and add your details to it - it’s as simple as that. You’ll then be contacted by the UX/UI Team and be asked to provide your feedback on a specific part of the EKM online shop platform. If you don't want to take part in giving your feedback, that's fine too - just add 'No' remove the window and you won't see it appear again. Alternatively, you can add your details to the Feedback Thursdays form you will find linked in this Guide

How else can I give feedback?

If there’s a specific feature or functionality that you would like to see on the EKM online shop platform, you can submit it on the EKM Suggestions Board.
