A Product Overlay is a characteristic specific to a Theme, where when a visitor rests their cursor on a Product Image as it appears on the Category Page, a summary consisting of the Product Name and Price will appear over the Product Image. This is used on Themes where the Price and Product Name are not displayed directly beneath the Product Image, and instead, appear when the Product has been highlighted by the cursor:

Pros:

• Ideal for EKM online shops which sell lots of similar items, such as clothing and footwear;
• Help customers quickly look through your Product range from the Category page - previewing the Prices allows them to decide whether they want to click into the Product Page or simply look at the next Product.
• Good for Product lines where the items are aesthetically pleasing with high-quality Product Images.

Cons:

• The Product Overlay does not work when viewed using a smartphone.
