Checking your Google Tags

1. This is the final set of steps required to set up GA4 on your EKM online shop.  You need to check that your Google Tags are firing correctly. To do this, open an incognito/in-private browser tab and visit the front end of your EKM online shop:

2. You then need to press f12 on your keyboard to bring up Developer Tools:

3. Then you need to refresh the browser displaying your EKM online shop and in the list of different items within the Developer Tools window, if you scroll down you will see your Google Tags:

4. Return to the browser tab displaying your Google Analytics account and click Reports on the left-hand side menu:

5. Now click on Real Time in the top left-hand corner:

6. On this page, you’ll see a real-time view of the visitors to your EKM online shop - including yourself - in the last 30 minutes:

Configuring your GA4 Settings

[remember]If you have just opened a brand new Google Analytics account, you won't need to follow the steps in this section as these settings are configured when you opened your account. [/remember]

7. Click the cog in the bottom left-hand corner:

8. Click Property Settings:

9. Select your Industry Category, Reporting Time Zone and Currency from the drop-down menus and click the blue Save button:

Locating your Data

1. Now you have set up GA4 on your EKM online shop, you'll need to know where to see your traffic reports. When you log into your GA4 Account, click the Reports icon on the left-hand side menu:

2. On this page, you can see a general overview of any data GA4 has collected. Looking at the menu on the left-hand side, beneath the Life Cycle header, you can access the sub-menus by clicking the down arrows next to each:

[tips]The Life Cycle helps you to see each of the different stages of the customer journey on your EKM online shop, from initial acquisition to retention. The data here is related to how visitors are using and reacting to your EKM online shop, as opposed to data about the users themselves.[/tips]

As different EKM online shops will monitor analytical data differently according to custom KPIs and company-specific measurements, the links to the Google Support Centre below will help you understand what each particular part of the data means and how it is measured:
