[intro]Before you begin, you need to have opened a PayPal account, which you can do by following the steps within this Guide. However, when you have completed this Guide, you will have correctly installed the PayPal Checkout on your EKM online shop.[/intro]

The PayPal Checkout offers customers the ability to pay for their order using either a credit/debit card or to log into their existing PayPal account and use that to complete their order. 

1. From the Dashboard, click the Settings tab:

2. Click the Payment Methods icon:

3. Click the Add Payment Method button:

4. Click the Digital Wallets Header:

5. Click Add Method to the far left-hand side for PayPal:

6. Click the Connect With Paypal button:

7. Add in the email address you usually use to log into your PayPal account, ensure that the correct Country has been selected and then click Next:

8. You now need to add in your PayPal password into the field provided before clicking Next:

9. Your next step is to select what kind of business you have from the drop-down menu, before clicking Next:

10. You then need to complete the fields provided before ticking the boxes to consent near the bottom of the page and clicking the Next button:

11. Again, you need to complete the fields provided before clicking Next:

12. Complete the fields and confirm your date of birth on this page, before clicking the Next button:

13. You then need to click the blue button to return to your EKM online shop:

14. When you are returned to the PayPal Settings page of your EKM online shop, you’ll see a red cross symbol on the bottom left-hand side:

This is because your account has not been verified yet. Log into the same email account you use to log into Paypal. Find the email from Paypal and follow the steps within it to verify your details. 

What the customer sees

The PayPal Checkout payment method is displayed in two instances on the Checkout Flow, offering the customer to pay by logging into their PayPal account, or by using a credit or debit card. 

1. If the customer selects the PayPal account option, they need to click on the yellow ‘Pay with PayPal’ button the right-hand side:

2. A window will then appear for them to add in their PayPal details to complete their order:

3. However, if on the Checkout Flow, the customer selects to make a card payment using PayPal, the button on the right-hand side will update to ‘Pay for Order’:

4. On the next page, the customer is then given a second opportunity to log in to their PayPal account by selecting the yellow ‘Pay with PayPal’ button, or to click ‘Debit or Credit Card’ beneath that:

5. Clicking the yellow button will bring up a window to enable the customer to log into their existing PayPal account:

6. But if the customer selects ‘Debit or Credit Card’, they will be redirected to this page, where they simply need to add their details into the fields provided to complete their order:

[remember] Paypal is a third party Payment Gateway, which means you are using a company external to EKM in order to process payments on your EKM online shop. With this in mind, EKM cannot control how the third party processes payments or influence their policies and procedures.

Whilst there are rarely issues with third-party payment gateways, on occasion it is necessary to contact them directly to resolve any issues as our Customer Support Team is only able to investigate up to the point where the customer is transferred away from your EKM online shop to process their payment before they are redirected back again to complete the order.
