What is a Shop Copy?
This is a process here at EKM where our Engineering Team copies the contents of one EKM online shop to a separate account. There are two main reasons shop owners request Shop Copies:
- Make a foreign language version of their UK shop in order to sell in a specific country abroad;
- To offer customers visible trade prices on one shop and retail prices on a separate version.
There are also two different kinds of Shop Copy that you can ask for:
Full Shop Copy - this is exactly as the name suggests where an exact replica - including Products, design and Orders - from your existing shop will be created in a separate account.
Shop Copy without Customers & Orders - this version of a Shop Copy consists of only Products and the design of your shop being copied. This is an ideal choice if you are creating a shop for the purpose of translating it into a foreign language, where you would simply need visible content and not information from previous customers.
How to request a Shop Copy
To request a Shop Copy, you need to first create an additional EKM online shop account. You can do this yourself by visiting ekm.com and opening a secondary account, or if you would rather, give our Sales Team a call at 0333 004 0333 and they will complete this step for you.
When you have opened the secondary EKM online shop, you need to make a note of the Account ID and have the Account Holder of both accounts telephone our Customer Support Team. This is so that we can get you through security, confirm the type of Shop Copy required and charge the relevant account accordingly. The cost for either kind of Shop Copy is £25.00 (+VAT) and you will need to specify whether you would like this to be billed to your existing EKM online shop or the replica that will be created.
[warning] During the Shop Copy process, you must not amend the content or design of either of the shops involved, as doing so could result in some vital information being missed or overwritten unintentionally. [/warning]
Your request will then be submitted to our Engineering Team who will perform the Shop Copy. This process can take up to eight hours, depending on the size of the original EKM online shop which is being duplicated, and once this task is completed you will be notified by a member of our Customer Support Team. After that, you will then be able to use your secondary EKM online shop as normal.
