Xero can help you manage the accounting side of your EKM online shop by:

  • Using automatic bank reconciliation, thus reducing data entry and saving your valuable hours otherwise spent on administration;
  • Allowing you to remain connected using your phone and the Xero mobile account app;
  • Syncing with a range of third-party apps;
  • Streamlining your payroll process.

Opening your Xero account

1. From this link, complete the fields provided:

2. You’ll then need to check your inbox for an email from Xero. Click the link within it to verify your email address:

3. This will redirect you to this page, where you need to set a password for your Xero account, before clicking the blue button:

[tips]Remember to make sure that your password is at least eight characters long and includes a mixture of numbers, capital and lowercase letters, and one symbol, such as £ or $ to make it extra secure. [/tips]

4. On the next page, you need to complete the fields provided, before clicking the green Start Trial button on the bottom right-hand side:

5. This will take you to your Xero Dashboard:

Connecting your Bank Account

6. Click Set Up Now from the Dashboard:

7. Now you need to click the blue button:

8. Use the drop-down menu to search for and select your bank:

9. You now need to click the blue button on the right-hand side:

10. You’ll then see a page where you will need to log into your bank account online. When you have done this, you’ll be redirected to this page where you need to click the blue Continue button on the right-hand side:

11. Click the blue Finish button to complete the process of linking your bank account to Xero:

Linking Xero to your EKM online shop

12. Using a separate browser tab, log into your EKM online shop. From the Dashboard, click Features on the left-hand menu:

13. Now you need to click Feature Library:

14. Scroll down to the Shop Management features and click View More on the right-hand side:

15. Click the Xero icon:

16. Now you need to click the green Purchase button on the bottom right-hand side:

17. You’ll then see this window appear. Click the green button on the right-hand side to confirm:

18. When the app has been installed on your EKM online shop, you’ll be redirected to this page. Click the green button:

19. You’ll then see this page. Click the green Allow button on the right-hand side to continue:

20. Add your name and email address into the fields provided and click the green Complete button:

21. You’ll then see this page. Click the green Connect button on the right-hand side:

22. Now you need to click the blue Allow Access button:

23. You’ll then be returned to this page, where you’ll see that your EKM online shop and Xero account have now been connected:

Configuring your Settings

24. Scroll further down this page and click the Edit button on the right-hand side:

25. Ensure that Dispatched, Complete and Refunded are set as Enabled and click the green Save button:

26. This will return you to the Sync Settings page. Click Edit to map your Order Statuses:

27. Ensure that each of these is set to Draft before clicking the green Save button:

28. Returning to the Sync Settings page, click Edit to map your Tax settings:

29. You now need to check that your tax settings here match those of your EKM online shop before clicking the green Save button:

30. Returning to the Sync Settings page, click Edit to map EKM line items:

31. Ensure Products are set as Sales and Delivery is set as Other Revenue using the drop-down menus provided, and then click the green Save button:

32. Back on the Sync Settings page, scroll down and you will see a notification confirming the settings that you have just configured. If you wish to view your Synced Orders, click the green button:

33. Your Synced Orders are visible on this page:

34. Returning to the browser tab displaying your Xero dashboard, you can then customise your Xero account further by Tracking Categories and setting up Projects:
