Creating a Paypal Account
1. Click here to go to Paypal’s home page, and then click the Sign Up button:
2. You’ll then be prompted to open either a Personal or Business account. If you are just starting out in the world of online retail, it would be a good idea to start with a Personal Account which can be upgraded at a later date. Click the box for Personal Account and click Continue:
3. Complete the fields provided. You will need to create a password which is a minimum of eight characters and ideally include at least one number and a capital letter for added security. When you have completed the fields required, click the Next button:
4. You now need to complete the fields for your postal address and date of birth. When you have completed these, click the Agree button:
5. You should now see this page:
6. This indicates that you have successfully opened your a Paypal Account.
Adding a Card to your Paypal Account
7. By adding a card to your Paypal account, you can spend money and pay money directly into your account from Paypal. To do this, click Add a Card to Use Later:
8. Add your card number, expiry date and CSC to the fields provided, and then click Add Card:
9. You will then see this notification:
10. This indicates that you have added a card to your Paypal account.
Confirming your Email Address
11. Click Go to your Account:
12. You’ll notice a large notification on the dashboard advising you to confirm your email address:
13. To do this, open a separate tab on your browser and log into the email account you used when you created your Paypal account. You will find an email from service@paypal.co.uk with the subject line ‘Welcome! Please confirm your email address’. Click the link within the email:
13. This will then open a new browser tab and prompt you to sign into your Paypal account again. Click the Get the most out of Paypal button on the top left and select Start Tour to familiarise yourself with the dashboard:
